Alex is a great intellectual.He is also a great adventurer {true}A great party animal {true}A great judge of character, {sometimes} a great conversationalist {its easier without the medication},a great comedian {now and again} ,a great philosopher {I have my moments}, and a great self publicist {hmmm} Indeed Alex is rather of the opinion that if anything is great it must have his name on it,or he will make it great by lending his name to it. {has this guy being secretly watching me or what}Alex is a sagittarian and there are 2 things that no sagittarian can resist.The 1st is a challenge. The 2nd is a tendency to exaggerate {not helped by enthusiasm smile}.
Therefore whatever Alex sets out to accomplish in this world must be: {A} difficult {B}big. Why climb a pifling little hill like Everest {why indeed} when there are mountains on Mars that are truly steep
All you need is a rope and a good ice axe and a spaceship {smile} In Alex's mind this, {or something like it}represents a perfectly rational thought process .Who cares whether he actually manages to get to Mars he will have fun trying and at least,if he tells enough people that this is his plan no one will think of him as boring {what bullshit!}

Here we have the essence of Alex's biggest secret fear.Alex is terrified that some day someone will rumble him {crap! My fear is spending my last few months as a helpless incontinent old fart}.He will be revealed as an ordinary person ,who thinks ordinary thoughts,oh shame of shames {you have to laugh eh...grrr} what will he do then.To keep this dreadful possibility at bay Alex will go to any length, he will climb any mountain {well I've done 30 so far} even if it does happen to be on Mars..he will swim any sea {yes I adore water}smile. {even if he cant swim yet he'll learn you wait and see},or perhaps more realistically {but only a bit} he will set out to prove he is a great adventurer philosopher ect and to everyone's surprise including his own, it will all turn out to be true!.{And that doesn't mean I'm a liar}
